West African Conference on Counterfeiting and Piracy
The Food and Drugs Board (FDB), Institute of Packaging and EU Business Climate facility collaboratively organized the first in a series of sub-regional conferences on counterfeiting and piracy. The event took place in Accra, Ghana, from July 21 to 23, 2008.
The innaugural theme was "Protecting the Consumer against Counterfeit Products through Inter-Agency and Sub-Regional Collaboration", and the conference featured a number of dignitaries, including:
- Hon. Mr. Kojo Mpiani, Minister for Presidential Affairs, and Chief of Staff to His Excellency the President
- Hon. Major (Rtd) Courage Quashiga, Minister of Health, Ghana.
- Hon. Minister for Trade and Industry, Ghana.
- Mr. Emmanuel Agyarko, CEO of the Food and Drugs Board, Ghana.
- Prof. Dora Nkem Akunyili, Director General, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Nigeria.
- Dr. J. Saweka, WHO Country Representative, Ghana.
- Dr. Nati Sefiatou Ouattarra, Secrétaire permanant de la CHRCP.
- Papa Owusu Ankomah - Minister of Trade, Industry and PSI/PSD, represented by his Deputy, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway.
- Mrs Rose Karikari Anang, Executive Director, Ghana Employers' Association.
- Prof. Hector Addo, Ghana medical Assiciation.
- Prof. John S. K. Ayim.
- Dr. Agyekum-Addo, President, Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Ghana.
